- Umbilical cord care.
- The baby's mixed-up days and nights.
- The breastfeeding learning curve.
- Worrying "is the baby okay?" and not being able to look at a pulse oximeter for confirmation.
- Worrying "is he getting enough to eat?" and not being able to just drip milk in through the g-tube.
- Just hearing the baby's cry is new for us; because of Merrit's trach, he was utterly silent!

Newborn Learning Curve
Being home with a brand-new newborn is intimidating! Even though we have a four-year-old, so many things are new to us this time around. We missed out on a lot of the newborn stuff the first time around...
