Sitting Pretty; Will Be Crawling Soon I'm Sure; "Sharing" His Paci

Up until today, Ollie would only be able to sit up for the briefest of moments and, mostly, with some support.

And then, today, it's like he just GOT it. Boom. Done. He can sit up.

We're still spotting him because he's apt to just go straight back like a wooden plank and land right on the back of his head, so we're being careful to put pillows behind him just in case, but he's really gotten the hang of it.

It's so amazing how one day they can't do it and then, the very next day, it's down pat.

That's kind of where we are with crawling. Ollie's really "making ground" at this point though I wouldn't call it crawling, per se. He moves through a combination of rolls, scootches, flops, and drags, even traversing from one side of a room all the way to the other side...and I'm sure that one of these days, he'll be up on his hands and knees in a proper crawling position, tearing around the house.

I'm savoring these last days of Ollie's "infancy"...I clearly remember this time with Merrit...there's a little tinge of grief over the fact that as soon as they can crawl, they want to get OUT of your lap and go exploring! Those endless hours of holding, snuggling, and cuddling have come to end...There's an exciting world out there to discover. "Geez, Mom, would you just put me down already!" :-) Motherhood is a mix of joyfulness at your child's accomplishments and adventures and tender-heartedness over the sweet bits you're leaving behind.

The other thing Baby Roo's been doing lately that is so cute is trying to "share" his paci. He puts it in his mouth, and then holds it out towards someone else's mouth (me, Daddy, Merrit, and even Merrit's favorite stuffed animal, the oh-so-creatively named "Bunny").
