Happy Birthday, Papa Clyde

This past weekend, the four of us -- Mike, Merrit, Ollie, and I -- all drove out to Black Mountain to celebrate Papa Clyde's birthday.

It was quite a shin-dig and reminded me, again, why am I so blessed to have married into such a special family. Not only that, but I am thankful that our boys are going to grow up with so many memories of big family get-togethers, delicious meals, special events, and funny stories. Their aunts, uncles, cousins and, of course, grandparents love both Ollie and Merrit SO MUCH.

Before the party, while all the planning and cooking was going on, Aunt Lisa fed Ollie some applesauce. Thanks, Aunt Lisa!

And then Ollie got some cuddles from Aunt Rita.

Outside, Uncle Junior played with Merrit.

With a belly full of applesauce, Ollie was ready to join the party. Here, Aunt Frances is happy to show him off!

...And more lovin' from Aunt Lisa. What a lucky little stinker our Ollie is!

From L to R: Aunt Dyan, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Tim, Aunt Rita, Uncle Tom, Aunt Kim.

With Ollie at the head of the table, we have to ask: Whose birthday is this anyway?

Well, that's more like it! It is Clyde's birthday after all. (The truth is, Ollie's high chair wouldn't fit anywhere else!)

Papa Clyde let Merrit sit on his brand-spankin'-new motorcycle. What a thrill for Merrit!

As you can see, he thought he was pretty cool!

The next day was so beautiful, we spent the whole afternoon outside. Here, Ollie spends some quality time with Cousin Andrew and Cousin Page.

And then Nanny let him crawl around and investigate her potted flowers and herbs.

After lunch on Sunday, we packed up and said goodbye. What a perfect little trip to the western North Carolina mountains. It was beautiful. Best of all, we got to see our family! Happy birthday, Papa Clyde!
