Dyeing Eggs

This year, we decided to dye our Easter eggs using natural dyes. We boiled onion skins, blueberries, tumeric, and spinach. We also used leftover coffee as one of our dyes. Here are our pots, bubbling away on the stove:

Blueberries and onion skins.

Tumeric and spinach.

We banded our eggs to add more interest.

Once the eggs were soaking in their dye baths, we stored them in the fridge overnight.

And look how beautiful they turned out! Well, the spinach egg (front left) wasn't anything special but the rest turned out awesome.

The blueberry eggs, especially, were amazing! I think the seeds of the berries (I didn't strain the juice) created the mottled effect. Gorgeous!
